Frequently Asked Questions.

Are Sessions Confidential

1. Do I need a referral or Mental Health Care Plan from my GP?

Nope! You don’t need a referral or Mental Health Care Plan to start sessions here. You’re welcome to share your plan if you have one, but your sessions stay private. As counsellors and psychotherapists, we don’t report back to your GP unless you specifically ask us to. (Check out the “Are sessions confidential?” section below for more info.)

2. How many sessions do I need?

Everyone’s journey looks a little different, and the number of sessions depends on your goals:

• Short-term support: Usually around 6–12 sessions, focusing on managing symptoms in the present, handling tricky emotions, or improving communication skills.

• Longer-term support: If you want to dive deeper, psychotherapy sessions can continue over several months (or longer), allowing us to explore patterns and create lasting change.

I’m qualified in both counselling and psychotherapy, so we’ll work together to find an approach that fits with your needs.

3. Are sessions covered by Medicare?

Counselling and psychotherapy sessions aren’t currently covered by Medicare, so there aren’t rebates available. To keep things fair, I’ve priced sessions similarly to what you’d usually pay out-of-pocket for psychology services after a Medicare rebate.

4. Are Sessions Confidential?

Absolutely - confidentiality is at the heart of everything we do. There are only a few rare exceptions, such as:

• A court subpoena

• Mandatory reporting requirements

• Immediate risk of harm to yourself or someone else

We’ll chat through these together before your first session so you feel fully informed and comfortable.

5. Is therapy worth the cost?

It’s a very personal decision, and one only you can make. But therapy can be a powerful investment in yourself - think of it like hiring a personal trainer for your mind. It helps build your confidence, clarity, and emotional resilience, and gives you practical tools to stop self-sabotaging and feel more like your true self.

Sometimes it’s helpful to ask yourself, “What’s the cost of not seeking support?” Therapy can help ease the strain on relationships, break unhelpful cycles, and empower you to live life with less anxiety and more joy.

6. Do I have to have a diagnosed mental health condition to see you?

Nope, not at all! Therapy can be a fantastic support for anyone who wants to boost their confidence, improve relationships, manage stress, or simply feel better. You don’t need a diagnosis to benefit. If you’re curious about how therapy might help you, feel free to book a call and we can chat it through together.

7. What types of individual sessions do you offer, and what is the cost?

I offer two types of sessions to suit your needs:

Core Sessions (50 mins): Ideal for regular, ongoing support with personalised tools and resources.

• Daytime: $130

• Evening (after 5pm): $140

Extended Sessions (75 mins): Perfect for a deep-dive on specific issues or occasional wellbeing check-ins.

• Daytime: $195

• Evening (after 5pm): $210

Both session types are designed to be flexible, supportive, and tailored to you.

8. Do you offer specific tools and strategies in session?

Yes - when, and if, it’s helpful for you. I don’t follow a strict structure or give set homework, but I offer tools and insights when they feel supportive. If accountability or structure would help, we can build that in - and you’re always free to take what resonates and leave what doesn’t.

9. How should I prepare for my online therapy session?

To help your session flow smoothly:

• Find a quiet, comfy space where you’ll feel at ease and won’t be disturbed.

• Make sure you’ve got a reliable internet connection.

• Pop on headphones - they’ll improve sound quality and keep things private.

• It can also help to take a few moments beforehand to think about what’s on your mind or what you’d like to explore in the session.

10. Can I adjust my session type or frequency if my needs change?

Absolutely! Therapy here is designed to be flexible and adaptable. If your needs or goals shift, we can easily adjust the length, frequency, or focus of your sessions. For example, if you’re usually having Flow Sessions but feel you’d benefit from a deeper dive, we can switch things up with a Hyperfocus Session anytime.
